This is Us

Our origin is a love story that only fate could write. On a hot summer day in July of 2021, Lyle was visiting metro Detroit (where Sammy lived) from Miami. On his last day before departing back to Florida, Sammy and Lyle both swiped right (matched) on a dating app called Bumble. In-app messaging soon turned to texting and texting soon turned into a magical two-hour FaceTime call once Lyle was back in Miami. 

We both knew something was different – so we took a leap and decided that Lyle would return to Detroit the next weekend for our first official “date”! The weekend was just as we knew it would be – natural, fun, loving, and the start of a blossoming new relationship. Lyle met Sammy’s parents the first weekend and they too, knew this was different. 

Lyle proposed to Sammy, and after two years of long distance, we moved together to New York – starting a life together and learning how to navigate the twists and turns of a partnership. 

We got married on July 4, 2024 and as Lyle likes to say, “there have been fireworks ever since!” We still have many chapters to write in the book of our marriage and we can’t wait for the chapter that begins with adopting a beautiful child.​
